U8 Finalists Plus A Very Special Supporter!

Our under 8's faced a tough field of opposition at the Faygate tournament this weekend.

And following a big upset due to an accident at school and despite breaking his leg only a few days before, the boys were supported by one of the teams start players, Oli Smith! With that in mind, the boys were determined to do their very best for their buddy!

The boys had a slow start losing 1-0 to Burgess Hill and drawing their second match 0-0 to Eastbourne. But considering the quality of these teams they could still certainly hold their heads high. Game three they found their stride, playing on a much smaller pitch than their style favours, they went on to win the remaining group matches finishing runners up of Group B.

The semi-final saw them facing the winners of group A Denton & South Heighton... and what a semi final this was!!!

1-0 down and 45 seconds to go... penalty!!!

Wills Du Vergier calmly steps up and puts Royals level 1-1 Game on!!

4 mins of extra time 0-0.. penalties!!So exciting, royals parents nervous on the sidelines unable to watch but the boys step up and win 4-3!!!

The Cup Final saw us facing Ifield Galaxy, unbeaten this season, usually beating their rivals by double figures each week. Not our under 8's team! Our boys gave everything and more.

1-0 down through luck rather than skill, and and an Almighty equaliser from Evan Wetherall levelled us 1-1. Then again against the run of play Ifield Galaxy scored 2-1 final score.

So proud of all the boys today, yet another display of the spirit and togetherness of this team under our brilliant management team. Well done Boys!

So, its a huge hats off from everyone at Southwater Royals FC to Oli and the team!

Get well soon young man!
