Our Story
Humble Beginnings
Southwater Royals Football Club traces its roots back to 1997, when a small group of local volunteers came together with a simple ambition: to provide young people in Southwater with the opportunity to play football in a safe, enjoyable and welcoming environment.
While the club has grown considerably over the years, that original ambition remains at the heart of everything we do today.
Growing With Our Community
As both the club and the village have grown, so too have the opportunities available to our members. What began with a handful of youth teams has developed into a thriving community football club, providing football for children, young people and adults across a wide range of age groups and abilities.
We are proud to support boys', girls', mixed and senior football, while also providing opportunities through initiatives such as FA Wildcats and recreational football. Our aim has always been to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to enjoy football within a positive, inclusive environment.
Raising Standards
Throughout our history, Southwater Royals has continually invested in improving the experience we provide for our members.
We have embraced the Football Association's accreditation programmes, developed qualified coaches, strengthened our safeguarding practices and built a strong volunteer structure to support the club both on and off the pitch.
Today, we are proud to hold England Football 2 Star Accreditation, recognising our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, well-run and professionally managed grassroots football club for our community.
More Than Football
Whilst football is at the centre of everything we do, Southwater Royals has always been about much more than the game itself.
Our annual Presentation Day, fundraising events, sponsorship programme and the incredible support from our volunteers and local businesses all help create a genuine community spirit that extends far beyond matchdays.
The friendships formed between players, families and volunteers are just as important as the football itself, and many people remain involved with the club long after their playing days have ended.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow, our ambitions remain firmly rooted in the values that have shaped the club since 1997.
We will continue to invest in our players, coaches, volunteers and facilities, ensuring that Southwater Royals remains a welcoming, inclusive and sustainable club for future generations.
While much has changed over the years, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to providing enjoyable, inclusive grassroots football where every player has the opportunity to develop, make friends and create lasting memories.
