Welcome to Southwater Royals FC

Southwater Royals FC was originally founded as Royal United back in 1997, based in Southwater, Horsham, West Sussex. The club originally started with a handful of youth teams and now has over 300 players across 10 boys and mixed teams, 9  girls teams, wildcats,  a women's football team and our 1st Team and 1st Team Reserves teams.

We are very proud to still be a Southwater based club, and play all matches in Southwater and the Horsham District area.

Southwater Royals FC is committed to promoting high standards of football coaching in a safe and rewarding environment for all our children.

In 2005 the club submitted its application and was successful in gaining The FA Charter Standard Award. Southwater Royals FC (Royal United) was one of the first clubs in the area to be given this award and reflects the very high standards our Club Officers, Team Managers and Coaching and support staff set. Maintaining our FA Charter Standard certification since 2005, we proudly offer playing opportunities to children in our Boys U6’s Development Squad, U7’s Mini Soccer Pre-League Team and our U8’s up to U18’s Youth Teams, who participate in the Horsham & District Youth Football League and Cup competitions.  The award is only available to clubs that can demonstrate they meet high standards in:-

  • Football Coaching – All Managers must hold formal FA Coaching Qualification, Level 1 minimum.

  • Child Protection – FA Safeguarding Certification

  • Equal Opportunities

  • Administration

  • Football Conduct

  • Fair Play

In addition to the requirements of the FA Chartered Standard the club continues to strive to raise standards and has already implemented the following:

  • Managers undertake full Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure

  • Managers are supported in undertaking additional coaching qualification

  • Managers are all trained to emergency first aid standard

  • Managers maintain their knowledge through membership of Sussex County FA Coaches Association

  • Coaching Staff are supported to take formal FA Coaching Qualifications

Our Girls teams, following unprecedented interest, continues to grow and we have 10 teams participating in the Sussex County Women and Girls Football League. We are always looking to the future and our coaches are already holding Open Sessions for Development Squads in friendly competitions.

We've had a highly successful season with the U13 Mixed team becoming champions of their league. Our U11 Mixed team won the plate final and the U18 Girls team won the challenge cup final. Our U13 Girls team won their league, and our U14 Girls team finished challenge cup and league runners up. Our U15 Girls team became our first youth team to reach the final of the Sussex County Cup, finishing runners up.

Our club continues to grow, attracting talented players from across the Horsham District and surrounding areas. We are always looking for Team Managers and Coaches to join our Club. With the full support of Sussex FA, we offer a comprehensive training plan and we would welcome interest from new to experienced coaches/managers to join our team.
