On Friday 5th April, Southwater Royals u12’s were excited to welcome Clones Town FC, who flew all the way over from Ireland on the same day!

Clones Town FC was founded in 1878 and established into the League structures in 1885 and is the oldest club in Ireland. The club is a County Monaghan football outfit that competes in the Monaghan/Cavan League and is the most successful club in the North East of Ireland.

Kick off was at 6pm at Southwater Leisure Centre, for a couple of friendly’s, followed by a reception after the game at the new Southwater Sports Cricket Club. The Royals team was made up from the U12’s/U13’s and U12 Girls Teams.

It was a great evening of football, with fun had by all. Thank you to Clones Town FC for coming to see us, we are looking forwards to a visit with you in the future!
