Competitive Football and Training Sessions
Following a great deal of discussion and agreement with a unanimous decision, Southwater Royals Football Club Senior Management Committee regretfully inform all club members that ALL mini and youth soccer activities will be suspended with immediate effect.
There will NOT be any training until at least the week commencing Monday 1st February 2021. The proposed restart date is subject to further guidance from PHE, the FA and a review by the clubs Senior Management Committee.
Sadly, over the past couple of weeks we have seen an increase in the number of positive COVID19 cases across our region and local community. We are also aware of an increase in cases within the Southwater Royals FC family with players, parents and their families becoming infected. We can also confirm that several other local clubs are experiencing an increase in COVID19 cases including Horsham FC.
As a community-based football club, we have a responsibility to help prevent the spread of COVID19 throughout the very same community, whom support us.
This week we have received confirmation from all 4 of the Youth Leagues our clubs play in across Sussex and Surrey, that ALL football has been suspended until, at the earliest and subject to further review, the weekend of January 30th 2021. With the new tier system now in place, it is not possible for many clubs and teams within those leagues to travel between tier 4 counties including Sussex, Surrey and London.
This has been an incredibly difficult decision, but without question, the Senior Management Committee are in full agreement that the health, welfare, and safety of all our members, players, parents, managers, coaches, parent helpers and their immediate families must take priority over football. Please reassure all our fantastic players that football will return soon.
These arrangements will be under constant review by the Club and you will be updated of any changes. We will of course react if promising news is received regarding changes to government strategy or a marked decrease in infections in our area.
